Lake Wohlford Fishing Report – 9/26/15

  • Catfish are biting throughout the lake. Cut mackerel and chicken liver are the top baits for cats. Stop by the ranger station for a dough-bait recipe that is excellent for catfish.

    Small to medium sized bass are being reported. Largemouth bass can be found around structure. They are hitting on crawdads, crankbaits, or dark colored plastics.

    Crappie are being caught in small numbers in the early morning hours. Crappie prefer the cover of shade and are most often caught using live golden shiners or crappie jigs.

    Park hours: 6:00 A.M. – 7:00 P.M. (Closed Weekdays Open Weekends only).
    Dock closes: 6:30 P.M.
    Last Plant:  1,000 lbs of Channel Catfish Friday July 31st.
    Next Plant:  Trout in December.
    Water temperature: At surface 78.64 f., 5.0 6 D.O. @ 10’ 77.93 f., 3.74 D.O.
    Water level:  Low level, private water craft are currently banned.
