With the stocking and warming weather the trout in the west lake are back to looking for bait. The Pump House Cove is providing the most action and stringers of mixed sized limits, with Lone Pine also very good. Power Bait rainbow and chartreuse the choice of most trout. Trolling slow with rapalas orange and fire tiger getting some action. The Bullheads will seek out your night crawler on the bottom. The East lake is ready to bust wide open for trout on flies at this time Matuka and wolly buggers, along with Caddis, Celibates, and other dries getting some action. Its only going to last a few more weeks. So its TIME!! if you fly fish come up and check it out

Greetings from Lake Cuyamaca: Mt. Lassen stocked 1,200 lbs of there finest trout. This will add to the inventory and angling pleasure for you. The bite during the week picked up. Pump House Cove is the hot spot with bait providing the action for anglers on the shore line. Water remains stained so "scent" will be a must. Boat anglers enjoying trolling and bait in the South End, also off Lone Pine. The East Lake is ready with quality trout taking flies. It is open to all anglers. This will not last long!! must have a fishing permit.

OPEN EVERY DAY 6AM--- SUNSET

Trout Bait: 12-16 inch leader off the bottom inflated night crawler smeared with scent, Power Bait. Power Worms fished below a bobber. (Pautzkes Krill gel or liquid Krill scent)

Best Trout Lures: Orange Rapala, Thomas Buoyant, Yellow Roster Tail. Use scent (Krill gel works best)

Best Trout Spots: Pumphouse Cove, Fox Hole, Lone Pine, Chambers Park .

Notable: Flea, Descanso, 3lbs Rainbow, power bait, Pumphouse Cove. Andy Hamilton (age13), Tim Gleason (age 12), San Diego, Limit, Power Bait, Lone Pine. ( limits of mixed size trout).

Fly Fishing: With water temps warming in the East Lake 61 deg, action on Olive Matukas, Wooly Buggers, and some dry flies. As the water continues to be pumped the area to cover will be in your favor. Its time!!!! The evening bite is best.

Nature Walk: The guided walk will be rescheduled .The trail is open for daily use. 3 1/2 miles around the lake.

Free Fishing Class Saturday at 10:AM: Ranger Willard will teach tried and true cold water trout tactics, using Baits, Tube Jigs, and Lures.

Prognosis: With the stocking of trout from Mt Lassen, the warming weather conditions has the bite back on. Trolling Rapalas and Yellow Roster Tails providing results. The pumps are on so Pump House Cove will be continue to produce numbers and quality fish. For a successful limit of trout try bait on the shore lines. East Lake is open to anglers and float tubes (must be inspected before launch). The East Lake is producing quality trout on flies! Wade out, find an open pocket watch for the feeding fish.* Remember the channel its deep* (above your waders). Wild flowers are starting to bloom adding to the colors of spring!! !!
