Hello from Your Lake Jennings: Great News! Starting next Friday March 14th we will be open every day thru Easter from 6:30 AM to 7:30 PM. Just in time for the best fishing of the year.  Bass are definitely in the mood. The lake rose 3.5 ft. last week and that left most of the bass exploring the newly flooded brush. Some that had already started nesting did so in deeper water where they cannot be seen. The trout bite was extremely localized. The eucalyptus trees at Cactus Patch was the only spot that produced fast and furious trout limits.

Best Trout Spots: Cactus Patch and the  Cactus Patch.

Best Trout Lures / Bait: Chartruese Gulp and Power Bait on a 4’ leader.

Best Cat Spots:  The floating boathouse and dam buoyline.

Best Cat Bait:  Bring mackerel or mackerel.

Best Bass Spots:  On the bank and in 15 ft. of water off the points.

Best Bass Lures /bait:  Dropshotting 4” worms. Ikas and Gitzits. Crawdads.

Water Temp. 61 to 62 degrees

Notables:  Fri., Jimmy Young, Alpine, 10-1 largemouth, white jig, Half Moon Cove.

Prognosis: Possibly the best fishing of the year. Full Moon will be a major player for both the bass and the trout.  There is always a big surge of bass wanting to spawn. The trout bite seems to shift to a late bite when the moon is bright. Mt. Lassen will bring us another 1200 lbs of trout on Tuesday, March 11th. The sunshine forecasted for this week should prime the bass for moving into the shallows.

We have created a twilight special for our motorboats. After 4:00 PM motorboats can be rented for $ 20.00. That gives you over 3 hours of primetime fishing.
