Hello from Your Lake Jennings: We thought that the hot days would cool
the trout bite; surprisingly it didn’t . Trolling for trout is good
between the boat dock and the fishing float. The Cactus Patch from a
boat using Power Bait or Gulp The bass are in the brush and tules.
Dropshotting worms in the brush are best. Some redears are spawning but
the main run has yet to occur.
Best Trout Spots: the boat dock, fishing float and buoyline triangle.
Best Trout Lures / Bait: Needlefish and Rapalas for trolling and nightcrawlers 6’ under a bobber.
Best Cat Spots: The floating boathouse and the bird trees.
Best Cat Bait: Bring mackerel or mackerel.
Best Bass Spots: On the bank in 5 ft. of water in brush and under trees.
Best Bass Lures /bait: Dropshotting 4” worms. Swimbaits and white jigs.
Water Temp. 65 to 68 degrees
Notables: No fish over 3 lbs reported or limits in 30 minutes.
Prognosis: The hot bite for trout will continue while inventories remain high. Cats and red ears are being caught on the bank. Buzzbaits drug off the bank produced some nice reaction bites from the bass.
Lake Jennings Free Fishing University will be teaching trout and cats at 1 PM on Sunday.
