We will be open on Labor Day 5:30 AM to 8:30 PM. The cats continue to
be the best bet for putting fish in the frying pan. The key is to fish
deep. The bass are in their usual Fall mode which is stacking up on the
points in 30 to 40 ft. of water. No topwater action.
Best Trout Spots: None
Best Trout Lures / Bait: None
Best Cat Spots: Both the dam and the Hermit Cove buoy lines.
Best Cat Bait: Shrimp or mackerel. Use scent liberally.
Best Bass Spots: Dawn and dusk tight on the bank. Daylight finds them in 20 to 30 ft. off the points chasing shad.
Best Bass Lures /bait: 4” Pink worms dropshotted or 16” BIG worms Texas rigged.
Water Temp. 80 to 82 degrees
Notables: Sat.,Dan Heiser, El Cajon, 14-8 blue cat, mackerel, buoy line.
Prognosis: Labor Day weekend is our last hurrah for night fishing. We will return to our ½ hr. before sunrise to ½ hr. after sunset schedule Open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. We will stock catfish one last time for the season on September 18th.
Lake Jennings Free Fishing University will be teaching cats at 1 PM on Sunday.
