The Bass bite is steadily improving with the water temperature around 68. Mostly smaller males close to shore. Try swim baits and crank baits parallel to the shoreline about 5 ft. out.

A couple of 11 lb rainbow trout headlined the week's action at Santee Lakes. Large trout are being caught out of lake 3. Bass fishing is picking up, although no large fish were reported caught this week. The next stock will be April 4th, consisting of 1,000 pounds of catfish.

hegeler.jpgTrout season is coming to an end.  The last stock of Rainbows arrived last week and was split between lakes 3 and 4. Don’t forget about the Lightning Trout. Come catch yours before they’re all gone.

Jason Rentis 7lbs..jpgSeveral lightning trout were again reported caught at Santee Lakes. The biggest fish of the week was a 7 lb Rainbow Trout that came out of lake 4. The last trout stock of the season is approaching on March 14th. Right behind the trout will be the catfish, with the first stocking scheduled for April 4th.
