After taking a break from team tournament fishing to finish building his new home, Mike Long of Ramona has returned with a vengeance. Mike caught a 5 fish limit at El Capitan in the Aim Marine Sunday Series event that weighed 14.25 pounds, and earned him his fourth consecutive team tournament win. He has won two American Bass Association tournaments, and with his partner John Kerr, won the last WON Bass event in that time period.
Anchored by the third biggest bass of the contest at 3.90 pounds, Long beat a field of 21 teams. In second place, with 10.93 pounds was the father/son team of Mike and Kevin Martin. Right behind them in third place was the husband/wife team of Larry and Leslie Ward with 10.74 pounds and the largest bass of the tournament at 4.92 pounds.
Rounding out the top 5 was Herman De La Garza and Kimberly Port with 10.18 pounds, and Chris Marso and Tim Green in 5th with 9.76 pounds.
John and Jordan Kerr maintained their Angler of the Year lead with their 10th place finish. That lead has narrowed slightly however, with Joe Aldridge and Danny Price creeping up to only 1 point back with two tournaments to go.
The next Aim Marine Sunday Series team event is scheduled for May 18th at Lower Otay. For more information, visit www.aimmarine.com.
