American Bass Association is a large tournament organization with dozens of regions in the Western United States. Their San Diego region is directed by Jeff Riley, a veteran team tournament angler.

Mike Long demonstrated his big bass prowess at El Capitan in today's American Bass Association tournament by taking first place, and the big bass prize. Long bagged an 8 pound fish to give him an approximate 15 pound limit, enough to beat the second place team of Cameron Smith and Chuck LaVigne.

Mike Long, fishing solo outdistanced a field of 20 teams in the March 22nd American Bass Association tournament at Hodges. Mike's 19.55 pound bag included the tournament's biggest bass at 7.8 pounds.

Crandall and Vaughan top ABA Otay field |

Tom Crandall and Bob Vaughan brought in 10.95 pounds of fish to beat the 18 team field at Otay on February 16th. They took home $1,536 for first place. Bob Palashewski and Roger Gordon finished just behind them in second with 10.27 pounds, aided by the biggest bass of the contest at 8.06 pounds. Roger caught the massive largemouth on a drop shot.
