Veteran McLernon leads day one at San Vicente |

Mike McLernon leads a field of 18 of the top club fisherman in San Diego County on day one of the 2008 San Diego Bass Council Tournament of Champions. McLernon, representing the North County Bass Club, caught 12.29 pounds which gives him just over a 2 pound cushion heading into the second and final day of the championship.
In second place, the champion of the Double Limit Bass Club, is Jesse Hinkley who weighed in 10.16 pounds. The weights began to stack up after that, with Mike Broadhead of the Bass Club of San Diego in third with 10.04 pounds. Bill Gurner of Southland Bass Club is fourth with 9.5 pounds and Glenn Morey of San Diego Strokers rounds out the top 5 with 9.38 pounds.
The field will hit the water again tomorrow at San Vicente to decide the 2008 champion.
