Mike and Dave Parkes blew away the competition in National Bass West's opening tournament for the 2007/2008 season. Despite not even having the tournament's biggest bass (they did have the third largest), they won in convincing fashion, by nearly 4 pounds.

Mike and Dave brought 19.7 pounds to the scales toward the end of the weigh-in to jump up into the lead for good. Their effort earned them $4,090 and a head-start toward the Angler of the Year crown. Anchored by the second largest bass of the tournament at 6.23 pounds, the father-son team of Ted and Tate Velau finished in second with 15.91 pounds. They took home $2,125 in purse and option money. Just behind them in third place was Randy Field and Brian Johnson with 15.86 pounds.
