The second stop for the 2008 San Diego Saltwater Bass Showdown was
Oceanside Harbor this past Saturday May 10, 2008. 21 teams from both
San Diego and Orange County fished the event with many teams coming out
from the Saltwater Bass Anglers circuit using the event for a tune-up
for their tournament the following weekend.

Mike Long makes it 5 in a row with NBW season finale victory |

 The National Bass West anglers concluded their season series at Lake Hodges on May 3rd. Mike Long, with the aid of Todd Holverson won his fifth straight San Diego team tournament. His current stretch of wins is probably one of the most impressive feats in San Diego team tournament history. Mike and Todd had a 5 fish limit weighing 19.70 pounds with the big fish of the tournament at 6.76 pounds to win and earn $3,950.

Norling and Wilson win season's first SD Team Night Series |

Aim Marine employee, and Triton boat owner Kevin Norling, and partner Larry Wilson won the season's first San Diego Team Night Series event at San Vicente on April 26th. Kevin and Larry had a 3 bass limit weighing 13.45 pounds anchored by the third largest bass of the contest, a 5.46 pound beauty. They won $3,200 for their efforts, and earned 1 raffle ticket good in the drawing for entry into the final tournament.

NBW waives membership fees for season finale |

Lynne Peterson of National Bass West has announced that they will waive membership fees for new teams that wish to fish their season finale at Hodges on May 3rd, 2008.
John and Jordan Kerr lead Kevin Norling and Larry Wilson by 19 points heading in the points standings heading into the final tournament. It will take a very strong finish from Kevin and Larry, and uncharacteristically poor finish from John and Jordan to keep the Kerrs from winning the Angler of the Year title.

Buckalew and Delong win season's first Saltwater Bass Showdown |

Tom Buckalew and Brett DeLong (Team Quantum) took first place honors in the initial edition for the 2008 San Diego Saltwater Bass Showdown Series Saturday afternoon on Mission Bay. The teams' five spotted bay bass limit weighed in at 10.38 pounds besting the field of 32 boater and kayak teams. Along with the second largest bass caught in the tournament award (2.71 pounds) this team took home a hefty $575 for their efforts. Most of the team's fish were caught on chartreuse/white and orange/brown spinnerbaits.
