The water level at Lake Skinner has dropped over 4 feet since last week
which have driven most of the sun fish into deeper water. As a result,
bass fishing has dropped a little since last week's report, but many
are still having good luck using a drop shot dark plastic off the
points along the South Shore and the East End. Lots of little bass
still hitting for the kids, but bigger bass are hitting in deeper water
the top being one 8 lbs caught along the South Shore. Other than bass,
catfish have been the best.
These fish are biting well in several locations on the lake, but the top spots right now are the Inlet, South Shore and East End. Catfish are hitting just about everything including chicken liver, anchovies, mackerel and night crawlers.
Some striper are still being caught, mostly in the morning hours on top water. The good news on striper is that they are finally showing up along the shore around Ramp #2.
Big bluegill are still showing up, but in fewer number probably due to the water drop. Ramp #2 is now reopened to direct access for shore fishing.
First trout stock is set for the 5th of November.
