Launch Conditions: PRIVATE WATER CRAFTS ARE CURRENTLY BANNED

In order to protect Wohlford from invasive exotic Quagga mussels, there is still a temporary ban on private water craft and private equipment that could have been exposed to mussels. Restricted equipment now includes private boats, canoes, kayaks, float tubes, trolling motors, fish finders, anchors, and other equipment that contact the water.

Channel Catfish have been hitting cut mackerel, shrimp, chicken liver, and night crawlers near the South Shore Rockpile and the east end of Wohlford. Bob Steilen of Carlsbad landed a 6#0 Channel Cat that attacked cut mackerel at the West Buoy Line. Young Wohlford regular, Hayden Heck of Valley Center, weighed in a 1#13 Catfish that hit a night crawler off Senior Shoreline. Bass action has slowed a bit lately.

The first 3 of 5 new Bass-type rental boats are available for rent at Lake Wohlford. They sport foot-controlled 40# thrust trolling motors, 2 swivel seats, and a live well. They rent for $46 for all day. With Wohlford waters unusually low and expected to drop another 2 to 3’, now is a great time for serious Bass anglers to photograph Wohlford structure!

The Crappie have moved into deeper waters.

Trout action is over for this season as Wohlford waters are too warm for year round Trout survival. Trout will be restocked on 12/13/08.
