Adam Hinkle caught and released an 87 pound blue catfish at Otay today while fishing for bass using 4 lb test. No matter what the circumstances, that is a pretty amazing feat. I missed Adam's call today, but will try to get ahold of him tomorrow for all the details and see if he'll allow me to post the photos.
This is an absolutely obese looking fish too, and he got some really cool unique shots of it.

that awesome. I can only imagine what that would be like to have an eighty pound cat pulling drag on four pound test. Must of been fun

I was in Anglers Marine yesterday when Adam called in looking for someone to help him land the fish. He was looking for someone to drive down to the lake to help him. I don't know how long the fight was but I would imagine, since he was calling for help, it was LLOONNGG!

Are these the stupidest fish alive or what? I thought it was amazing when the 100+ fish was caught on 10# at San V. I'm sure there is some skill involved on the part of the fisherman, but come on, all the fish would have to do is just keep swimming or just lay on the bottom. Doubt this would ever happen with a Channel cat.

i'm guessing he was drop shotting and on spinning rod if he was using 4lb. how did he not get spooled? and better yet break it off with it trying to run into stuff.
