Grey skies and rain showers greeted the WON fishermen as they blasted
off on a 47 degree morning at Lake Otay this last Saturday. The rains
had raised the lake level around 12 inch since last weekend, but the
teams were hoping their patterns would still prevail. Here's a short
recap of the tops finishers.
First place honors went to the father son team of Don and Donnie Riese.
In the early morning they scratched out what would be their days total
of 7 keeper bass drop shot fishing in 20 feet of water. The teams 5
best stringer went 21.28 lbs and was capped off by the second largest
bass of the tournament a hefty 6.65 toad. Don and Donnie took home at
total of $2890 for their effort.
2nd Duane Johnson/Curtis Howard 16.66 $770
3rd Ted Holverson/Robert Joslin 14.35 $765
Big bass of the tournament went to Captain Greg Miser and Dave Norling
flipping an Ika in the main lake. Their kicker went 8.49lbs and earned
the team big bass honors for the tournament an a hefty check for
$1,110.
Further results will be posted during the week.
Thank you to all the teams that fished. We'll see you at Lake El Capitan in February
