Its hard to make an announcement like this, but this morning Jeff
Rhine, known as Rhino on sdfish.com passed away after a brave battle
with cancer. Jeff was truly one of the kindest people I knew, I never
once heard a negative word come out of his mouth. Even after learning
of his cancer he remained extremely positive. I know he had no
intentions of letting this take him away, but I suppose God had other
plans for him.
Just over a month ago he was on this message board inquiring on if the
City should consider re-introducing smallmouth bass to San Vicente, so
that we'd have those to look forward to when the lake reopened.
He was a longtime member of the website, I remember him for as long as
I can remember being on sdfish. Jeff also competed in the local team
tournaments with his daughter Amanda, who is also a member of the site.
Tom Wade (bassgrabber) broke the news to me this morning, and stated
that Jeff was in his proudest moment when competing in bass tournaments
with his daughter. I must agree, as one of the few father/daughter
teams Jeff was extremely proud of to be out there with her.
In honor of Jeff Rhine, I have put a photo of him with two fish in the
header of the site. I'll keep that photo up there throughout the rest
of October and November.
Rest in peace Rhino!
Jeff Rhine
