The California Bass Federation operates 8 regions throughout California, with Region 6 operating tournaments in Southern California. Region 6's tournament director is veteran San Diego angler Larry Wilson.
Federation tournaments are held as a draw format, allowing non-boaters to enter and be paired up with boaters for the tournament. The anglers fish against eachother however.
Anglers must be FLW members , as well as belong to a TBF affiliated club . To enter a tournament, mail the entry form to director Larry Wilson at;

Michael McLernon beat a field of 25 other anglers in Sunday's Bass Federation tournament at Lake Perris. The field was comprised of anglers from both region 6 (San Diego) and region 8. McLernon won by over 4 pounds, anchored by a big fish of 3.65 pounds. However, exceeding the importance of his big fish was the fact that he was able to get the tournament's only five fish limit in tough conditions. Other San Diego anglers placing in the top 5 were Cameron Smith in 4th and tournament director Larry Wilson in 5th.

The schedule for the 2009 California Bass Federation has been released, with the following tournaments scheduled for Southern California's Region 6;
- January 11th, 2009 - Lake Perris
- February 15th, 2009 - El Capitan
- April 5th, 2009 - Lower Otay
- June 14th, 2009 - Hodges
All entries are due the Monday prior to the tournament, making January 5th the deadline for entries into the series' first tournament at Lake Perris. Anglers must fish a minimum of 3 of the 4 tournaments to be eligible to qualify for the Federation's state fish-off.
