National Bass West has become arguably the most competitive of team tournament regions in San Diego. National Bass West Owners Mike and Lynne Peterson are angler favorites, and continue to draw large fields.

 Tom Lowery and Dennis Kolender teamed up to beat 29 other teams in Saturday's National Bass West team tournament at El Capitan. The tournament was Dennis' first since his recent move back to San Diego. Dennis has lived the last several years in the Las Vegas / Henderson, NV area pursuing a professional fishing career based on the expansive Lake Mead which is home to several pro tournaments each year, including the US Open. Tom welcomed his old buddy back to San Diego tournament fishing with a giant El Capitan bass weighing 10.90 pounds. That bass alone would have earned them a top 3 finish, but they complemented the big sow with four other keepers to give them a limit weighing 17.10 pounds.

 The father and son team of Don and Donnie Riese beat 43 other teams at El Capitan on Saturday to win the first National Bass West San Diego tournament of the season. Their 13.23 pound limit of 5 bass included the tournament's largest bass at 3.49 pounds to make it a perfect sweep of the available option and purse money. Their winnings totaled $3,670 on the day.

National Bass West San Diego Region wants to invite ALL fishermen and
women to our first Team Tournament event of the year, this Saturday the
31st of October. This will be the first of our 6 events for the San
Diego Region. As with ALL our events there will be coffee and donuts at
the early morning sign up at El Cap Reservoir’s lower gate.

Lynne Peterson has announced the schedule for the 2009/2010 National Bass West San Diego season. She also announced that Dave Seaberg, former American Bass Association tournament director, and crowd-favorite will be the director for National Bass' San Diego Region this season.
