  • Mark Larson of Seaforth Sportfishing reports excellent fishing today for local boats within the Seaforth fleet, particularly for yellowfin tuna. Among the notable counts were 3/4 day boats The San Diego and Sea Watch.

The San Diego notched 91 yellowfin tuna and 8 dorado for 51 anglers while the smaller Sea Watch tallied 101 yellowfin tuna for 31 anglers. Those yellowfin ranged from 18-25 pounds. Larson recommends anglers come prepared with 25-30 pound outfits and fluorocarbon leaders. 3/4 day trips depart daily from Seaforth at 5:30 AM.

The Tribute, which has been running daily overnight trips had 32 anglers onboard today and landed 49 bluefin, 2 yellowfin and the first albacore we’ve seen reported by the sportfishing fleet this year. Captain Mike Pritchard said the albacore is in the 30 pound range.

A private boat reported a single albacore yesterday as well, the first albie we’ve heard about this year.
