Lake Sutherland will reopen for the 2017 fishing season on Friday, March 3rd, with an additional 40 vertical feet of…
The final trout plant of the season took place on Wednesday and consisted of larger fish then the previous stocks. Warming water temperatures are driving the trout westward, toward deeper water. The south shore is also been productive for the same reason. Powerbait and inflated nightcrawlers have been the best baits.
The 96 anglers checked at Lake Hodges last week reported catching 67 bass, 40 crappie and 1 channel catfish. The bass numbers are up a little from the last report, and the crappie bite seems to be holding on relatively consistent. Crappie are being caught on shoreline brush, especially that on steeper banks with small mini jigs.
