With only two qualifying tournaments taking place in July, there was little movement among the top 25 of the rankings. Frank Morrin was the big mover, vauling up from 20th last month to take the 3rd spot this month. That jump was attributed to his win against 64 other teams in the San Diego Team Night Series Tournament at El Capitan on July 12th.
For the 4th straight month, Kevin Norling leads the rankings followed by the man he fished with for many of their big points events, Wade Strelic. Mike Walsh slid down a spot with a couple rough finishes in July, but still finds himself in 4th and within striking distance of taking over the top spot with another big finish in a high-participation event.
Tom Leedom dropped to 5th, losing a few ranking points with a finish outside the top 10 in the 30 boat San Diego Team Day Series Tournament at El Capitan on July 26th.
Looking ahead to next month, there is plenty of opportunity to shake things up for anglers with a couple big events; the annual “two-day” taking place August 11th and 12th and another big night tournament which already took place on August 2nd, but will be included on the next release of the rankings.

About the rankings
The SDFish.com Tournament Angler Computer Rankings are meant to quantify the success of an individual anglers tournament season. They are not based on opinion, or make any claim to decide who the best, or worst anglers are. They are based on an anglers’ performance, and their performance alone.
Which anglers are considered?
All anglers who fish a minimum of 7 qualified local tournaments so far this season have been included for consideration, and the top 25 are posted above.
Which tournaments are considered?
- 5 tournaments in the 2013/2014 National Bass West San Diego Region season (the March 8th tournament was not included, as no results are available due to a computer malfunction at National Bass West)
- 6 tournament in the 2014 American Bass Association San Diego Region season
- 4 tournament in the 2014 California Bass Federation Southern California Region season
- 4 tournament in the Anglers Marine Owners Invitational Series
- FLW Western Series Pro/Am at Lake Havasu
- FLW Western Series Pro/AM at the California Delta
- 6 tournament in the San Diego Team Series (Day) season
- 4 tournament in the San Diego Team Series (Night) season
How are the rankings formulated?
Each qualifying tournament is weighted based on the number of entries in the field. A proprietary formula awards points each finishing position for each individual angler (team tournaments score each angler independently) from the top down. Those points are then divided by the total number of tournaments an angler fishes, and a multiplier is applied to remove the decimals.
2014 Season Rankings
Rankings will be updated throughout the year, and a new set of rankings will be published at the start of every month including all qualified tournaments from the start of the 2014 season (includes some tournaments from 2013) through the previous month. See our 2014 tournament schedule for a full list of tournaments that’ll be considered for the angler rankings, excluding the club level tournaments.
