Summer is a great time for San Diego Bay

  • With the beautiful weather, kids out of school, and the “glassy” morning conditions, San Diego Bay is the place to be. Fishing conditions are also favorable with grunion runs and big tidal swings kicking the fish into active feeding periods. All of San Diego Bay’s fish species are biting good this time of year, even the “exotics” like bonefish and corvina.

Early and late in the day, mornings and evenings are the times to get out and throw the topwater lures for the aforementioned corvina. That type of fishing is my favorite thing to do in the bay. But if thats not your thing, I have had clients ask to target just about everything the last few weeks; bay sharks, big sand bass, halibut, bonefish, and of course the bite-friendly spotted bay bass. The kids love them.

Now is a great time to come enjoy a cool morning or full day of fishing on San Diego Bay, or anywhere in Southern California for that matter. Get out there.
