… Now That Jackie’s Back in Town

The plan was to hit a spot given by a friend, but a couple of kids showed up who were rockfishing sandy bottom w/a huge chunk on a hook trailing a sinker. I took them to the rocks, gave them a double-dropper loop leader and then, of course, they out-fished me. The one boy thanked me about four times - obviously raised right - and they were off for home.

As soon as they left, I started getting fish after a slow morning. I was insisting on fishing a particular spot but remembered the saying, “Fish are where you find them,” and fished an area with hard bottom but no real outstanding terrain. I also fished some jagged rocks, and ended up with five keepers in less than hours of successful stumbling after the morning keeper-skunk.

At about 1400, I saw a lone dolphin being pursued by what I believe were two hammerheads.

 

One was right on the dolphin and the other one trailed it by 100’ or so. The guy I was with missed the initial chase, but within seconds pointed toward the shore and said, “Whatever was happening is still going on.” We didn’t see them after that.

 

A good sign?

 

Should I visit the garage to get set for that game?

 

I’ve been watching season two of SNL. Two coincidences:

1. land shark skit
2. Chevy Chase saying on Weekend Update, “The CDC announced that the 417 deaths associated with the swine flu vaccine are merely coincidental. Likewise, the FAA announced that the 77 passengers killed by the crash of flight 817 are merely coincidental.”
