Hit the sand at low tide around 3:45 and got to work with an olive beadhead wooly bugger. As the tide started to come in, saw some bait jumping and put the fly on target 50-60ish feet away. Fish took all the line outta my hands and got into the reel. She put on a good show jumping and thrashing before I negotiated a beautiful shortfin corvina to the shore. Measuring on my rod about a 21-22" fish. Released and swam off. Not long after that, hooked up again with some big headshakes and a big surge. At first i was excited it was a monster halibut, but after it suctioned to the bottom reality set in that those were wings flapping not headshakes, and I had a ray on that had my redington vice bent in half and I couldn't budge it more than a few inches on 8# leader. Snapped the fly off and tied on a darker wooly bugger. No more fish after that, a few missed takes or so it felt like. Beautiful sunset if not a bit chilly, glad I wore the waders for the first time since earlier this year. Stoked to get a corvina on the fly, only a few more species on my shortlist of targets on the fly remain. Gotta work on that bonito..
Walked back to the car as the sun dipped below the horizon. Bourbon and general tso chicken beckon.
    Tight lines and fish on

Been paying my dues and got rewarded for persistence. It has been a slim couple weeks for me shore pounding. Tidal conditions were exactly what I wanted when I wanted. Right place right time doing the right thing. Satisfying when a plan comes together

    "a" man, not "the" hahahah.

Put 3 consecutive skunks in the bank to cashout that fish. Was fun though. A couple morenos were fishing nearby, heard them talking **** about the mosca rod. Didnt see them catch anything. After I beached the corv told em " pesca grande en la mosca y tu solomente cerveza " and had a laugh.

Stopped in Strouds to reload on my preferred size and color streamers today. Bought em all out lol. Rick is a great guy, took down my name and number and promised to order more of what I like and call me when he has them in. Customer service A+

I've barely fished the spinning and baitcast gear since march. Only thing I need to sort out is bay fishing on the fly..most of my preferred spots are rock hopping and that's been a challenge with the fly rod
