Went out trout fishing this afternoon. They were very non-commital on mini jigs, kept getting picked up but no hookup. Switched to a small panther Martin and got a few in the net. Highlight of the day was when a bass smashed the spinner. Nothing special, 2lber but nice surprise and good fight on 2# test.

Congrats on getting a trout to bite at those lakes!

Plenty of other anglers did better on trout than I did today. It was more of a natural color and presentation type bite. A few guys with fly rods lit it up, another handful fishing flies under floats on spinning gear killed it too. I'm a low level fly angler, I have brought a fly outfit most local trout trips this fall. But I've been having a wrist/forearm issue that was flaring up this week so I left the fly gear at home. Ironic how I dedicated a few trips to fly rod and they wouldn't bite it, and today I left it home and fly was killing. But the guys fishing bass with trout swimbaits weren't hitting, the trout gear got the bass. Lol.

Great info thanks much for the report. Shocked they are biting! Sorry to hear about the injury, you don't need to cast a fly rod to get them on flies just any light foam float on the spinner.

#16 hares ear is my favorite. I may give it a shot @ Lake 4 in the AM. I have a Santee Lakes annual parking pass, might as well use it more!

I think the morning might be good. I'm in my first year fishing the stocked lake trout here, but they weren't biting nearly as eager as other stocks I've been at. Gotta get hungry sometime..
