Yesterday, I took my kayak to fight the strong winds and overcast stormy day, Today I took my boat to enjoy a pretty calm day with sunshine. Go figure....ha ha. Not much difference fish wise, and nothing to really whine about like yesterday but did have my first bass come off when it reached the surface when it jumped. Now most fishermen would say it was a huge bass that got away....I mean that is what we are used to reading, but it actually was a pretty small bass that shook my spoon. I fished a little deeper water today and was able to put in 3 bass in the boat. On a 5/8 oz Hopkins I picked up a 4 1/2 lb bass(funny the pic makes it look smaller than the 4 1/4 I caught yesterday). Later, I worked a 1/2 oz Kastmaster for a bass just over 3 pounds. And my last bass was long and weighed 4lbs on the button on a 1/2 oz Kastmaster. Yesterday's bass was caught in 35' of water. These 3 bass were caught in 50-60' of water.
Sometimes going deep can pay off. Just wished it paid off a little more today...ha ha. :)

You manage to do pretty dang good with that spoon!! Great job! LOL I was picking up a few fishing supplies today and as my eyes crossed the Hopkins spoons on the wall, all I could see was that ranger hat of yours!!(I had to buy one).

Hopkins is an old school spoon. There are probably better things out there. I just started using them again the last few years. I primarily use Kastmasters as you see. Most guys use ice jigs. I have caught fish on ice jigs, but for me I seem to have more faith and luck using the Hopkins and Kastmasters. They get fouled up more, especially the Kastmasters that are not really made for vertical jigging. Oh well...to each his own.
Good luck and tight lines to ya!

Not a lot of bass, but some fun ones when they do slam your spoon. :)

Yes, the 2 days in a row with bass in the 4lb range was really nice. I wish I had my boat during the stormy day on Sunday rather than my kayak. Of course thats not a guarantee that I would have caught more bass, but at least I would have been able to stay on spots better than my kayak in those strong winds. Oh heck...I should be thankful just to be able to fish. :)
Getting ready for next trip.....gotta love Tackle Warehouse!!!!

Very nice VinnyBass and you beat the 2 fish limit again! :emoji_slight_smile: Plus two 4 pound ones...SWEET! If it's not raining, I'm hoping to get out for the first time in 2019 on Sunday 2/24 when my buddy comes to town for the day. We'll go to San Vicente since it's on the way back to Ramona from the San Diego Airport. Tight lines my friend!

Love/Hate the rain? LOL...Yes, I am hoping the weather will be ok on the 24th, since my buddy will only be here one day. I'll sacrifice a few days of fishing for the rain, though. We need it! Tight lines my friend.

OH...was that what that rope was going across the lake...ha ha
I am fishing 75 feet north of the foot sharp rock 3 feet to the right of the old boat anchor that you left decades ago and then head 212 feet straight east of that and line up your cast with the second tree just north east of that. If no bites then you need to head 58 feet directly south of that and drop your spoon in 51'4" of water. The fish usually are there mcfish.
    But you already know that.

I had fun....it would have been even more fun to catch a few more bass(even small ones) as working spoons is pretty boring.
You need to save those type of comments about me complaining for “the Lounge”..... ha ha :)
In there.... it gets crazy as times!

Get out of your comfortable chair and in the next day or so go buy your license, then head out to Sutherland when it opens, catch a bunch of bass and keep it low key....but tell mcfish your hot spots who will tell RamonaAngler who hopefully will tell bassgalrascal to get the heck back out there and get some fishing in this year and hopefully she will remember to pm me where the correct hot spots are if they do not get lost in all the conversations.
Oh yeah....before I forget..... good luck out there Paul! :)
