June 9, 14 games out, one game out of last place, for the six game home stand they batted .135. There no joy in Padreville........

I've been a fan since 1996 and, although that's probably not as long as some of you, I don't think I have ever seen a worse hitting team. It really is pathetic.

63 games hitting .218 as a team. I go back with the Padres from the beginning when they became a major league team in 1969. In the early 1970's we had some pretty bad hitting teams then. But this 2014 team to date, hitting around the Mendoza Line is the worst in team history. As a life long S.D. fan tomorrow I will be watching or if I'm fishing will be listening on the radio. Keep hoping things will get better................

Could this season get any worse? Tony Gwynn has passed away, such a sad day for San Diego.

I'm so bummed right now! When my wife texted me with this horrible news this morning, I thought it just HAD to be a BS hoax. RIP MR Padre!!!

I feel honored to have been able to watch him play in person.

RIP Tony.. Lots of memories watching him play. Met him a few times and he's an inspirational person. I played bball against Tony Jr in high school numerous times and Tony Sr never missed a game! Sad to see a GREAT player and even better person leave us so young... :(

Yeah, you think they would have found a way in their hearts to win for Gwynn last night.

They don't have the fight to win if their own lives were on the line. That team is a joke.

Time to clean house, start over...if they're going to go through this, might as well try to improve the roster and coaching staff for future years. No point in a 100 loss season if its not going to pay off down the road.

By the way, they are now solidly in control of last place in the major leagues in all 4 major offensive categories (runs, avg, obp, and slugging). And if the season ended today, they'd have the lowest OBP in baseball history.

    Congrats 2014 Padres.

Kellen, I watched a few games last week and this is how it went:

Cashner - 6 scoreless innings: No Decision

    Ross - 7 scoreless: Loss

and in one game this year Kennedy threw 8 innings of 1 run ball, hit a homer and LOST!

It shows you that great pitching is useless if you cant score runs.

We need to stop believing that we can build a team around our pitching staff with the talent we have swinging the bats.

No hit again by Lincecum! LMAO. What a joke that roster is.

2nd time in less than 12 months that Lincecum has no-hit them. I fully expect every staff ace they face to have a legitimate shot at a no-no.

I'd like to see Darvish against them...

And on the flip side of the coin, still the only franchise that hasn't thrown a no-hitter.

The hitters should be fired not the G.M.......The last time a pitcher pitched 2 no-hitters against the same team was way, way back in 1908 and 1910. And it probably won't be the last time this season......They have been shut out 13 times so far........
