I believe that picture was the 18 or 19 caught last year if im not mistaken. The measurements are completely different from this fish, so yes it is a different fish.

and yeah that fish is a cow, congrats to him

Something not right here. American fish, American record - broken in Japan??? I'm not questioning the legitimacy of the catch, we just need to send Mike Long to Japan so at least the record will belong to an American.

On Second thought, Just wait til San V. opens again!

Not a hater here. There are two pics with a big Japanese bass with a swimbait and neither are this 22.5 bass. I dont belive the bait has been exposed yet, I have also heard it was on live bait.
That a heck of a bass and it looks legit. Hopefully this will change the attitude of the Japanese government towards the LMB

I would rather it be caught on a big wake bait that would be cool.

I know why the government wants to get rid of the bass. Its also the old net fisherman that are complaining that the bass are eating their baitfish which are what the netters and oldtimers are targeting. The new crowd wants the bass to stay. They are fighting over it just like we have to fight out tree huggers

WOW!!! That is a true Toad and to come out of a very pressured lake.I guess it goes to show that small Highly pressured produce larger Bass.

In Japan of all places?Who would of thought of that one?I figured Mexico or something.

I Did not know that...all I was just going by was what i have heard and read that they only had small lakes that were very pressured.

All I really know about Bass fishing in Japan is that they make really cool baits.

    Big Fish regardless.

as for your coveted Greg V. Everyone in the industry knows about that man's reputation. I can send you to a link to another site where everyone who know's greg V has an opinion about him, but I don't think kellen would appreciate that.

just read it was caught on live bait, a koi to be exact..... not how i'd like to see the record broke but still pretty cool. It also said it's a hybrid bass, would that still qualify for the WR LMB

Here is a link to the salmon you say do not exist in lake Biwa

    Lake Biwa; Cold-Water Biwa Salmon
The Biwa Salmon is a land-locked subspecies endemic to the lake. They live in the deep pelagic zone of the lake where the water is around 15 degrees C. Spawning takes place in the middle reaches of rivers during October to November when the fish reach 3 to 5 years old.

Due to the destruction of the natural river systems around the lake, the population of Biwa salmon is now maintained through artificial propagation in hatcheries.

You sir are highly uneducated on this subject and should just stop. You are making yourself look very stupid.

I read the same think Hooked. I also read that it was caught on a "mother" swimbait. Its made by a small company called Roman made. Deps is a huge player in the Japan fishing industry and they just purchased the rights to the Roman mades "mother" swimbait. A company making a move like that leads me to believe thats what it was caught on, We probably will never know what it really was caught on because even if it wasnt caught on that bait the story come out of japan will more than like be that it was caught on the "mother" swimbait. Money talks.
