Decided to give Murray a break and test the waters of Miramar. Took my kayak, as you never know up there if you could launch a boat week to week. Worked a few points and then went in a little tighter. Water is very clear so I started making long casts and caught my first bass next to the tulles on a senko. Little did I know that would be the biggest bass of the morning session (and it wasn’t that big). Missed a few short bites and started drop-shoting thin senkos and MM worms. When it was all said and done I ended up with 5 more bass: 3 dinks and 2 super dinks(aka micro bass). I think your best bet fishingwise is when the winds pick up. Anyway, here are a few pics just for laughs:
    1st bass(good start I thought)

    Dink sample(3 of these)

    Micro bass (2 of these)........sad. :-(

Sorry guys...I did this thread on my phone and not my computer and did not realize the pics were so dang big. The fish were not.....ha ha. :)

I did not see any carp today. But I think one may have hit the surface as they sometimes do in the back part of one of the coves in the morning.

I hit it Saturday and my experience was the same as yours. Dinks, dinks, and dinks. Water was 64 and you could see the the bottom in 20'.

That’s why I backed off my kayak and made really long casts. I had fun up there last summer fishing in deeper water and I’ll probably end up going back and doing the same thing in a month or two from now.

Thanks for the report. I remember when it was so clear you could see down 20+ feet. Is it still like that?

It is pretty darn clear, but not 20+ feet. I am guessing 12-16 feet at the most. Made lots of long casts there.

Those are normal bass for Miramar... 13-15in fish 1.5 pounds. Try flipping the tulles next time with 1/2oz pegged weights. Lots of fish hide .

Yes, but there were just a couple of smaller boats there and I did not pay attention if you had a longer
bass boat if the trailer would drop off the end of the cement part on the ramp. Anyone else been there
recently may be able to answer the launch ramp question if they had a 17-20 foot boat.
WOOPS I GUESS I SHOULD OF READ 858NOVICE response above.

Last year I did pretty well in deep water, but I know there has to be some pigs in the tulles. Thanks Rob!
