Field light, sacks heavy at San Vicente
Hurt by a saturated calendar with two key team events on the very same day, a field of 25 talented teams took on San Vicente for the fifth leg of the El Cajon Ford Day Series, and just .02 of pound settled the final result.

Fishing without his regular partner Jacob Melrose, Nick Lerma took top honors by weighing 21.68 pounds, topped by the second biggest bass of the contest, a 6.64-pound largemouth. Lerma reported using a mix of lures including Ikas, jigs and Senkos, taking home just over $2000.00

Ever so close and moving closer to the top spot in the points standings were Kevin Norling and Stephen Lamb with a sack weighing 21.66 pounds and their own 6-pound kicker (6.22). Their one-word secret was “Senkos.”
Said Norling, “We pitched at bushes, cast parallel down the bank and even caught some in 30 feet. As basic as can be, an unweighted hook.”’

Klayton Belden and Adam East fished a short day due to work commitments, but were able to capture third place with a limit weighing 15.43 pounds. Relaying the team’s methodology was Tournament Director, Jim Sleight who revealed, “They caught their fish in 40 feet of water on jigs. I watched them catch three in the morning right in this bay [on the far side of the marina docks.]”
The heaviest bass of the contest went to the team of Chip Gilbert and Lester Albury, and the 6.72-pounder anchored their 15.28-pound, fourth place finish.

We would like to thank all the teams that participated in the tournament and supporting the El Cajon Ford Day Series. We want to thank Paul **** , John Blake & Klayton Belden from El Cajon Ford for their continued support of the San Diego Team Series. Without their support, the El Cajon Ford Day Series would not be possible and we can’t thank these individuals enough for all that they do for the bass fishing community.

If you looking for new or used vehicle please stop by EL Cajon Ford Dealership and ask for Klayton Belden he will take care of you. Please keep in mind, El Cajon Ford has the Quick Lane department, so if you are in need of an oil change or a new set of tires you can stop by and they can get this done while you wait. In closing, we would like to give a special thanks to our staff members for great start to another great season. Without our dedicated staff, we could not run the best circuit in San Diego.
