Did not get to fish last weekend, as I just got back yesterday spending 5 days in Vegas. Still had a blast..despite winning, losing, drinking and overall losing. So I decided to gamble(despite lack of sleep, a full moon, cooler weather...etc) and headed up to the lake of Donald and Kiefer with my kayak. Started off good, as I ran into fisheromen and shared some laughs. Threw an assortment of baits, which was mostly included senkos in many areas and nothing. Finally, I had a bass on for about 3 seconds and it came off. That was the highlight for several hours. Anyway as fisheromen was leaving, I told him I need to catch something or I will post a big skunk pic on my post. Tried a few areas and went to hit a final spot before leaving and missed another bite on a MM tied on a drop shot rig(I yelled in disappointment). Then tossed it back around the area, and minutes later got bit and set the hook on a 5.25lb bass. No skunk today felt really good! A couple snags and about 20 minutes later, I switched rods to use a Texas rigged pumpkin worm and landed my second bass which was just barely under 5lbs....so I will call it 4lbs 11oz...oh wait fisheromen reminded me there are 16oz in a lb. & not 12oz, so lets call the second bass 4lbs 14oz's to be safe....ha ha. Anyway, I left shortly after that as the winds came up. Not a great day, but a couple nice bass made the 45 minute drive back home a little bit nicer.

Looks like 4lbs 15oz to me! ;) Two fish like that in one day would have me smiling for a good while!

    Hey RamonaAngler ........
How in the heck do you launch your boat there with the water so dang low? My kayak was scrapping the bottom in inches of water the first several feet off the boat ramp where I launched.

Nice bookends! But did you have to get me all fired up again about how pathetic and disgusting the city's water policy is! Rape one lake to the benefit of another..classy San Diego! I guess they figured nobody would notice if they trashed a little lake in a land far, far away! Things were better when the bass fishing community actually had a spokesperson!

Maybe you can run for City Council and then later for Mayor of San Diego.
You did go to Helix High so you are qualified. :)

Good to see you caught a couple VinnyBass I'm heading over there today, Saturday, to try my luck. If I can catch one or two like the ones you caught, I'll be a happy camper.

    That was when???
You can PM me on most Fridays. I will post here when the launch ramp is out of the water. If the City was really concerned about making $$ they wold leave enough water for boats to launch.

The city is just to dumb to understand that you have to spend money to make money! They're too busy giving away money to people that don't work!

That's a couple nice Bass once again Vinny. Your kickin butt on the nice Bass category. Man them things look like fun. I drove half way down the hill to fisheromen lake while coming back from the desert the other day. I saw bare muddy shoreline and was disappointed. My first time to that lake. I was low on fuel so I turn around. Didn't look like much from way up on the hill. Didn't see much structure/cover. Pretty sad indeed. must be something holding fish.
    Way to go Vinny BASS

There still a lot of underwater brush and trees etc. and hopefully the water level will stabilize and not keep dropping. Then the bass won’t be pushed out of spots where they used to be and hopefully the fishing will improve in time.
