Headed out to Tamarack for a casual outing around 10:30AM. I had no expectations, just wanted to wet a line.

5th cast, and Boom I'm on. The fish crashed my metallic sardine as soon as it hit the water, and went airborne, super cool too see. After a decent fight I landed a helluva Corvina.

10 minutes later a police officer rolls up in a truck on the beach and tells me no shore fishing, and since I'm not allowed to fish here, that my fish is illegal and I need to throw it back. I pleaded with him about throwing the fish back, since it was pretty much dead. He allowed me to keep the fish.

    Fish measured 28"
    8.5 lbs

Congrats, that's a great catch! So it seems Carlsbad is letting people fish, but no catching .

No fishing. Police officer drove on the beach, got on his speaker and said ( NO SHORE FISHING)

He ran up to me with a ticket book in his hand, but luckily he didn't hand me one.

Yes, but didn't know until I brought it home.

Eggs will be boiled in soy sauce, Mirin and ginger, then put over rice.

Great catch! Still cannot believe all these people can go sit next to each other and eat at restaurants in the village but we are not allowed to be alone on a beach and fish!

Niiiice. The fish are fattening up with restricted fishing.

Dam what a solid corvina right there! That spot tends to hold huge fish on good days!

Beautiful fish.... I've only caught one out of the surf, and it was nowhere near as big as that one.... WTG...

That "should" mean theres a grunion run about to happen or happening. I got a monster out there the night before a run. And same scenario, i wanted to release it but the weight of itself was breaking bones in its tail so i ended up keeping it.

Edit : I also went out yesterday, first time in long time. Had something pick up my lure on the drop, after a cast....felt 1 headshake then drag, then snap. Now u have me wondering wtf it was cuz it wasnt a halibut
