My buddy Tim, also known as RippinLip619 and I today ventured down to Otay. I originally was going to join him in his boat, but he has a couple boat issues so he joined me in my boat. We started off to hit a shoreline and saw a few jumps and headed out and had some fun topwater action. Tim started it off and it was exciting as bass were gobbling up his reaction baits. Some misses and a few backlashes, but still action enough to keep us both out there. Every time we were going to head in and work the tulles, another few bass would jump and right back at them we were. Off to a good start already.
Later the topwater calmed down and we moved in tighter and Tim was landing a few on reaction baits while I was catching them on worms. It was fun as we kind of found a pattern fishing the tulles despite the water being a lot lower than my last trip there. Now we both were tossing worms and basically every areas we hit, the bass were very cooperative. I have to bring up that we missed many bites and Tim lost more bites than me, but because the action was good...it did not really seem to matter as the next bass was heading into the boat....but as we all know....it always hurts a little to miss a bite or have a bass come unbuttoned. It would be kind of funny as I would catch a few and then he would catch a few and then I would start again and this basically was what went on to the point where we basically lost count of how many bass we were catching.
Right before we left, as I put all my rods away except for one and I told Tim we can hit this area for just a couple more minutes. Heck it is always fun to see if you can just catch a final fish each right before leaving. I caught one quickly and by the time my rod was almost safely in the rod locker, Tim was pulling in his final bass. None of the fish were giants, but a number of the healthier ones were right in that 3lb-3lb plus range A great way to end our trip....and one of the best ones I have had at Otay in years.
Tim...I mean RippinLip619.......it was a great bite and a blast fishing with you today!
    To sum it up......
    Otay......Oh yeah!

I think the hook got me. I did not even know I was bleeding till I released the bass. There is no pain when you are catching lots of bass! ha ha. :)

This was one of those rare times that so many of the bass did not have the upper hand...........or they were all just
    hungry as heck!

You are right! I would be upset too. I feel bad, but I do not use live bait....so I guess I will continue to be insensitive.
I know mcfish always has live bait with him.....I hope the bass where he fishes like meal worms....ha ha

you don't have to fish with nightcrawlers
you could just donate a few to the DK
    bass food bank

That sounds like a great idea! Since mcfish has the biggest garage in San Diego County... he obviously must have a lot of money that he could buy a bunch of nightcrawlers and toss them each Friday into the lake. Every little bit counts!

Hey mcfish.......the concession stand is still waiting for you to pick up your sweatshirt at San V. I guess it fell out of your truck a few months ago.

I hope you know we were kidding after doubletap said the bass were hungry because we throw them fake food(plastic worms etc). and maybe we can donate some nightcrawler to feed those poor bass. I just kidded mcfish to take some up to D&K to feed those poor hungry bass each Friday.. Just want to get the story straight in case you though we used live bait.
I never use live bait and all bass were caught on plastic worms and reaction baits. I am just guessing you probably already know that....but I just want to make sure....ha ha :)

I figured you were kidding but I am usually up at 5 or so and this morning I somehow fell back to sleep till a little after 6. I looked at your comment on my phone with my eyes half shut and jumped up to write a response because I did not have time to figure it out if you were serious.
Next time, I will drink some coffee first. ......ha ha
Hope all is well. Did you get your boat in yet or is it ok now?

LOL..yeah, I know you don't use live bait, same as me. I've never used a shiner or live worm for fishing. Even as a kid we used lures pretty much exclusively. My boat..Goes into the shop on June 30th..hoping it's an easy fix and will have the boat back shortly after the 30th. Crossing my fingers and toes. In the between time heading over to N.C. to celebrate my buddy's 60th birthday. Known each other since we were 12. He lives on Lake Auman and the bass fishing there is pretty good. Hope to have a good report when I get back from N.C.
