    Short:
    1 Barred Sand Bass
    1 Calico Bass (18")
    1 Moray Eel
    1 Black Surf Perch
    1 Rock Wrasse
    1 Baby Leopard Shark
    1 Black Croaker (14")

Fished the beach this morning 8am-10:30. Low tide -0.7ft at 5:36 am. Conditions were great today, minimal salad and mild waves. The bite was pretty good too, landed 7 species. First fish a Barred Sand Bass around 12" caught on second cast. Then i got a big hit and some nice headshakes, reeled in a faaat Calico Bass over 18", maybe 4-5lb. Next was another Eel, then a gut hooked black perch. Had my bait stole a few times then caught a Rock Wrasse, then a small leo. Another nice hit and landed a fat Black Croaker over 14". Got broke off on a strong tug, either snapped on a rock or teeth, leader broke clean. Headed home at 10:30 after a silent half hour. Kept the calico, gut hooked black perch, rock wrasse and black croaker as I was fishing for food today to feed the fam. All fish caught on shrimp chunks on size 6 circle hooks, 12# mono on a 9 foot spinning rod. Fun morning. Tight lines guys and gals, the surf fishing is picking up.

Yeah he was a nice size. Yesterday got my 1st black croaker, dinky little fella. Today a much more substantial one. Guess they're cruising out there right now. How does black croaker compare to yellowfin as far as table fare?
That calico is my PB. Not crazy long but big around. I know you're sick of those things haha I don't catch them as much as sand bass over here

Nice fish! How is the black surf perch for eating? I caught some of those but let them go because I wasn't sure.

They're pretty good, a little on the delicate side, kind of soft. I cook them minimal oil really hot pan and sear it good. That one today was a little small but he was gut hooked, i would usually C&R at that size

Cooked the black croaker fillets and wrasse whole tonight pan fryed with a butter garlic lemon sauce...was a hit with everyone, even the 1 yr old. Mom says the wrasse is like dark meat chicken compared to the more delicate croaker. Both were damn good. The bass fillets and perch went in the freezer for a few days. Headed out in the morning again to see if the bite stays hot

One of those days where you want get the fish unhooked quick and get the bait back out pronto. Nearly lost the big calico in a few reef sections, luckily I've figured out where they often try to run to and was able to pull him to me. Got another good sized black croaker yesterday
