Woke up with a sore throat(& feeling kind of warm), so I figured I went in search of a cure at Lake Murray. Of course I was looking for some topwater action and threw a gizzard shad swimbait for a bit for basically casting practice. There were a few signs once in a while of bass hitting the surface. Of course I missed some opportunities from being too far away or having the wrong rod in my hand. Besides a Gunfish, I had a few rods armed with flukes, spoons, jerk baits and underspins. The rest were rigged with plastic worms. Anyway....I will try to keep this from being a novel.....I finally had a bass slam my Gunfish and it weighed in at 5 1/2lbs. It was my first fish, so I was pretty excited. I worked the Gunfish and other reaction baits and then just went to drop shot rigs with Robo worms. I worked pretty hard, but finally ended getting 5 more bass which were all very small(one was a micro bass/see pic). I think the topwater action will be improving right around the corner as long as we get a steady streak of warm weather. Today it was fun chatting and fishing along side with surfnfish for a while who was out there in his kayak. He nailed a couple bass and had a nice one come off real close to his kayak. You will get that one next time Tim! Anyway...it was fun getting out to fish and almost forgot about my sore throat till I got home... and feel like crap right now....

Thanks guys!!! I guess SDFish is up and running again. Every time I tried to get on I could not. I hate to admit it, but it was starting to drive me nuts(like I am not nuts already....ha ha). I was surprised to even write this report because I tried to edit it and it would not let me go back in to my post. Anyway....just glad that things seem to be working again.
    Yay!!!!!...... :)
Tight lines to all of you

Forgot to include this pic the other week of a smaller bass on a Gunfish. I guess I wanted to wait to see what this week would bring but a top water frenzy at Murray has not arrived yet.......I can’t wait till almost all of my bass are being caught on top water.

    Thanks! I
Hey, I bet you are slaying some bass at San V each weekend. I look each week for a post from PBandJellicles to see how you guys did...ha ha. I did see a little ocean adventure that you guys had...it looked like fun! One of these days I am going to take my kayak out in the salt water and bass fish. For now....I'm just waiting for topwater action to improve in freshwater. :)

Very nice bass! I’m still thinking about that one that jumped off but glad you and that other kayaker at least got to see I wasn’t just fighting a snag ha. Really enjoyed talking and fishing by you! Hope you start to feel better.

    Tight lines!

It was fun fishing by you and from my angle that bass you lost was a pretty fat one. I know you will be catching plenty more down the road. :)

I kind of overdid it this weekend and was just too sick to even go fishing on Monday(very very rare..as I have fished under the weather many times). To top it off I could not get into the SDFIsh site which added to my gloom.
Nice to hear from you and hope the site stays up for a while.
    Tight lines my friend:)
