Recently moved to the area, so quite novice about fishing spots, techniques and tides etc. Went to fishing at coronado beach in the afternoon. It was low tide and there was quite a bit of seaweed, used variety of lures, stick baits, jigs etc without any luck for 3 hours. As the sun went down, I had back to back hits, one small halibut, one bat ray and finally a nice sized yellowfin croaker. Halibut and ray was released immediately, kept the yfc. It was slightly above 18 inches and 3.5 lbs.

I got it from amazon, came in a box of 5, various colors, I think it was 12.99$ or so for the box.

I tried casting lucky craft stick baits for quite a while, but there was quite a bit seaweed in the nearshore, wasn't able to get past the weedy part with them. plus it was low tide super shallow. With the metal jigs I was able to cast a lot farther to a little deeper waters past the weed line which turned out to be more productive for that day

Funny.. my wife gave me that same box of jigs this year for Christmas. She found them on Amazon and randomly ordered them for me.. They are definitely little rockets, and cast a frikin mile.
