As the SDFish site was down for a few days(although I believed forever.. until a bill was finally paid), I hit Murray on Monday in my kayak and returned for more bass action on Tuesday morning with my boat. It was nice and relaxing fishing without thinking about coming up with a story to post, but at the same time sad. I daydreamed while I was fishing about starting a fishing website or even joining Facebook as Deb suggested to share my boring Lake Murray fishing adventures......it was pretty strange with the SDFish site down. Back to fishing, I mostly wasted lots and lots of time searching the lake for anything that broke the surface and caught a couple small bass, but the topwater bite still is not in full swing. Anyway on Tuesday, the guy who did not fish Murray for 2 years now suddenly was here for the second time this month? Maybe because the site was still down yesterday and no fear of me blasting him if he got skunked(does he ever get skunked?) or maybe its just too freaking hot in Ramona? Yes mcfish was at Murray.
Anyway.....the fishing Tuesday morning was very tough and the weather was very hot early. It sometimes pays to not give up as in the late morning I find that sometimes the bite can pick up or if there was not an early bite at all, at least toss you a few dinks your way...ha ha
Anyway...late in the morning I returned to a spot and missed 2 straight bites....then switched over to a different worm and about that time mcfish came over to see how things were going. I then missed 3 more fish in front of him(two of them were very nice fish as one of the bass bent my hook and a very healthy bass came unbuttoned as it launched out of the water). Anyway mcfish entertained me by catching a number of bass there(yes he missed a few, but landing percentage was better than mine). It was fun kidding around with him and I finally picked up some fish(I caught half a dozen and McFish I believe, caught a dozen). Too bad the bite was not at that spot in the morning. Oh well, that's Murray for ya.

Just sharing 2 pics(notice who found a way to be in the background).....well at least SDFish is back up again . :)

Fun times! Nice to get out of 100 degree temps for a day! It was definitely one of those days where persistence pays off. Once again, that 11:00 to 1:00 time slot played off for us! The combination of growing up on that lake and being a finesse nut, it definitely helped me get some fish today. The advantage of Mr. Vinny's spots and mine combined for some good times. I'm not really recommending the lake now if you want some easy catching...Murray can be a tough nut to crack during the summer months. It's always fun watching Mr. Vinny attack a lake from a completely different angle than me..always educational! I did end up with 12, a feisty 4lber making them more respectable. Thanks to Vinny for being an entertaining host on His home lake! 20220628_081216.jpg 20220628_114611.jpg Screenshot_20220629-145524_Photos.jpg some of Vinny's dock employees showing me where to tie off my boat....

Good report and photos . The Canadas look out of place for this time of year . Must have become Resident rather than Migratory . It's the only bird that has ever truly came at me in attack mode . They really defend the little ones . Thanks for the photos . WR

I've started noticing that quite a few of the lakes have a larger population of resident Canadians(the birds also). Murray had 50-60 on the water at sunrise.

What happened to Kellen, is he not still the owner of this site?

I guess they figured that San Diego is a little more laid back than Canada, plus not really any chance to be shot at in our lakes!!

Don't let me catch them in front of the blind . Good shooting and good eating , But what can you expect from a waterfowl hunter . BTW they are an extremely tough bird to take down . I will empty the gun and be ready if the bird takes off the water . No catch and release when hunting . HA HA . WR

Barrett also available by lottery. In years past Otay had waterfowl hunting as well . Here is a view from where I generally hunt up in the Suisun marsh at sunrise 50AED260-C6D3-4DC4-9885-87513F7A3ECB.jpeg . Must confess this morning did not develop until the wind picked up around 08:30 AM . Was an excellent day on the Marsh as most are . WR

What pound test were you using when you were fishing at Murray and caught that 4lb'er?
