A little rain yesterday kept me doing errands, but today it was time for a little a.m. session at Murray. It was cooler than normal in the morning and I was looking for something on top. I threw a Gunfish and IMA Skimmer, but no takers. I finally went smaller and got a small bass on a Jackall Riser on the surface. I worked reaction baits just under the surface and then threw an under spin for a bit. Something swirled along the surface and I tossed the under spin beyond it and caught a micro bass(I wish one of his larger buddies hit it, but a bass is a bass). I later worked worms and creature baits in what seemed like forever. No takers and then I went to a longer crawtype bait and make long casts down the tulles just for the heck of it. Boom!...something hit it and I set the hook immediately and it went straight and deep in the tulles. I worked hard and finally was able to horse it out of there. Thank goodness I was throwing straight braid. It was a healthy bass that weighed 5.75lbs. It made the whole morning trip worth it. I stayed there and tried for more, but later went to a drop shot with a MM worm and caught another dink in about 15 feet of water. I fished pretty hard and it was a pretty slow morning so I did not stay much longer after that.
On the way in I saw an old buddy Nick out there. It was fun catching up and chatting about fishing and what's working best at each lake(Sorry I cannot tell you any of his secrets). Now that guy can FISH! :)

Anyway...here are a couple pics of the bass that I caught on the crawbait:
(Hey mcfish...I am just posting 2 pics of the same bass and not trying to pull something...ha ha)

Thank you.......Most of my fishing at Murray is off points and away from the tulles.
I know there are fish next to and in those tulles, but foolish me is always looking mostly for topwater action this time of year. Then I usually work worms or creature baits in deeper waters off points or some of the structure in the lake. I may be fishing near the tulles more often now. :)
Its hard to break away from always heading to areas where bass are hitting the surface
and often wasting time catching dinks like this..ha ha

Ha ha.... that is too funny and will never happen. When someone is in the boat with me I don’t catch many fish because I’m so busy driving them crazy by constantly talking to them and worrying if they’re having fun that my fishing day takes a toll. I can’t let that happen..ha ha :)

Nice fish, I was out last Saturday and got skunked. Finally decided clear all the junk that piled up around my kayak. Hope to get out again this weekend.

Good luck to you. Since the lake opened again I think overall the margarita Mutilator on a drop shot is a good choice to get bites and fish. Tight lines. :)
