The water was up a few feet from last Monday as my buddy Joe joined me this morning. Where did the fun top action go to? Geez...last Monday when RamonaAngler was here with me, there were bass at least stirring around a lot more on the surface. Anyway, while I tried to figure out a game plan, my buddy Joe nailed 3 bass on flukes. His biggest was a very healthy 5lb'er. He also had a few others he missed on flukes, while I could not even get a bite on them. I tried some top water and reaction baits and later just caved in to worm fishing. My favorite type of fishing is top water, so I was a little moody(Joe would back that up in a second!..ha ha). While both of us missed a number of opportunities (like you haven't heard me say that before...), I managed to catch 5 bass on drop shot rigs(MM & Orange Crusher worms). Nothing too big but hopefully I will run into some topwater bass action next trip. Alway fun to fish with Joe and the highlight of the trip was his 5lb'er. :)

Looks like you two had a pretty good day, despite no top water action. Did you try any jerkbaits?
Thanks for the report and pics VinnyBass

You know I threw various top water lures, under spins, flukes and come to think of it I did not throw any jerk baits that I recall. I guess the lack of surface action after anticipating it would be happening still kept me throw stuff on top or near the surface. Then I finally brought out the drop shot rods and was able to pull out a limit in between a few missed strikes here and there. I should have searched for that Jerkbait that snapped off you line and ended up somewhere on that shoreline the other week...ha ha. :)

LOL..yes, I think that lure is still on the shore.....:emoji_open_mouth: Hey, you got a limit, so your worm choice worked out.

Yes......so I should not complain I guess....but just wished my topwater choices(Sammys, Gunfish, ZaraSpooks and IMA Skimmers, flukes etc) would have worked out instead. It is just more exciting to see the water explode.

Man, Vinny!! You guys killed it!! Those are beautiful fish. So glad you guys found the fish. I fished Murray on sat and first light there was a few fish breaking up some bait but we couldn't get the fish to commit. Tried everything in my tackle box for surface. Ended up finnessing the bottom for a few fish but nothing as beautiful as you guys caught!! Congrats!!

We had fun because we both caught some bass and thanks for the kind words, but I can’t say we killed it. Joe’s 3 bass came really early in the morning and that was it for him. After that I busted my butt to catch my five bass on worms. I like challenges and love every opportunity to fish, but I definitely have seen better days at Murray. My biggest wish is that the top water bite will improve.
    :) Tight lines

TNT is still illegal, I believe! You don't need it anyway! Nice fish!

I know you guys like to keep things quiet, but has there been any topwater stirring up there in the lake of Donald and Keifer?

I haven't seen any topwater action at Sutherland yet, this year.

Thanks for the report. Hopefully the topwater will pick back up soon. I think you got everyone excited with your last report. I'll be out there this Sunday. Maybe I'll see you out there.

    Tight lines!

Sure haha you'll be the guy catching all the bass ;) I just thought I might see you again by that point we fished together last time. If your out there... Since I haven't been able to fish I MacGyver'd a new seat for my kayak. I'm eager to try it out!

Good luck wherever you end up!! Tight lines!

I love to MacGyver things once in a while. It is amazing what one can do if they really think it out, plan all the details and make it happen. I know we will see each other one day soon. Good luck if I don't get out to Murray on Sunday. :)
