Wen't out to the nine today lookin for paddies but had no luck. I would find little pices and follow them but there wasn't a paddie. Tons or porpoise around some had fish. Got one follower on the jig, yellowfin. Caught one little mako on the troll. Got it to the boat and then my grandpa tried (failed) netting it and it got off the hook but bit down on the net and was still hanging on. My grandpa kepted yelling hook, hook, but I didn't know what he meant until my mom said I think he means gaff but then it was too late, clean release. I didn't think to gaff it at first because he could have easily netted it. Seems like everyone was having problems with them stealing their bait. Shoulda just put on a dead bait with a circle hook and caught more. Water was between 70 and 72.4 degrees offshore. We had my mom with us so it wasn't a real serious trip. She was miserable and was horribly sea sick so we couldn't do much. I haven't been posting too much lately so I decided why not. Went on the Liberty last Sat and it sucked so I didn't bother... Although it probably would still have been appreciated. Anyhow get out there and get lookin, if you can find that magic bush your set. The yellows that are offshore seem to be really decent some being about 6x as big as the ones at the islands.

Did you launch at mariners? Kurtis mentioned you messaged and said you saw him.

It's a 1981 Searay, my grandpas shop burnt down in 1983 leaving it a bare hull. He rebuilt it and now looks like a whole other boat. Blue and gold, "El Dorado S.D."

Do you remember seeing a ranger launch at the same time as you?

It was kinda bumpy in all directions but we managed to get bit pretty good. My son started to get sick for the first time this year so we didn't stay long. We still got 17 in about an hour of fishin.

Nice work.. Baby makos are a pain in the behind at times.. I have gotten so frustrated at times I have been known to keep a limit out of irritation (years back). Glad to hear the tuna (even stragglers) are so close..

I was out yesterday as well and stop on the acres chovies that were on the North 9 in the early morning. We also played with a small Mako in the mix for a short time since the 20# was no match.
