After catching 7 dinks on worms last week, I was determined to catch some bass on the surface. I had rods on the deck armed with a Gunfish, IMA Skimmer, Underspin, Fluke and a small shad glide bait ....I ventured out to several areas with high hopes under an overcast sky. Yes...there was a rare occasional jump but the bass were up and down immediately and was only able to land my lure near a few with no results. As time flew by, I realized there was not going to be a surface bite(Criss-crossed the lake a few times looking everywhere). I finally headed to shallower water and picked up a dink on a fluke(yay..no skunk!). Then worked very hard(it seemed like forever) in different areas using drop shots with M.M worms to bring in 3 more small bass in about 15'-18' of water. A few boats out there already headed in and I was thinking how dumb it was to keep fishing when all I had to show was some dinks. Decided to try one more area and tied on a creature bait. Heck..why not? Worked it for a while and then the line twitched and I quickly set the hook and landed a long bass that weighed just a tad over 4lbs.
It felt really good to at least finally catch a healthy bass. I figured I could go home after that bass and even put a few rods away. Then decided to work that area for a bit longer. Headed to deeper water and using a t-rigged black worm. Bam!..got bit and pulled back to land a 3.75lb bass. I was glad I stayed a bit longer as my final 2 bass helped make a gloomy morning into a better fishing day. :)
It was also fun seeing Neil Azuma out there with my old Ranger boat I sold him. Great guy and fisherman.
    Here are a few pic's:

    The Good:

What you may not know...or probably do know... is that because I talk a lot, so I tend to write the way that I talk, so actually I had to shorten my report as it originally was more than 2 pages long....ha ha. :)

Yes the multiple pictures were just to give you a better idea what the fish looked like and I made sure to point it out in my post. I’m not one of those guys that takes pictures of the same fish to try to make people believe he caught 2 or 3 different bass by holding them in different directions or putting different lures in their mouths when taking the pics.
    No fake news here!

We need to remember to talk about fishing so that I don’t scare off people I talk to at the lake.
