I had a nice breakfast at the Omelette Factory in Santee with Deb this morning. Love BLT's! Deb had errands to run afterwards and said I should go fishing. You can pretty much guess the light bulb in my head lit up brightly and I figured I could kill a few hours and revisit the SD River where I just recently fished.
It's funny how scatterbrained you can become when you do not plan to go fishing and then suddenly are rushing around trying to pack rods and tackle frantically hoping you do not forget something. Anyway....I forgot to grab a few baits I wanted to try, but was my kayak was well equipped with plastic worms and crawbaits.
I worked a lot harder than the other day as the bite was pretty slow and with the help of my Tokyo rigs, I was lucky and managed to land a half a dozen bass. Three small ones, a couple nicer ones and my largest bass
    went 5 3/4lbs.
It was an interesting Friday morning going from breakfast to a short unplanned fishing trip......and much more fun than running errands.
    Thanks Deb! :)

    Tokyo rig/Crawbait. 5.75lbs

Tokyo rig/Senko...this short stalky one one lived in the shadows
(not as skinny as a Otay bass...ha ha)
    another fat one 8:20.PNG
.....and even found this topwater bait
(no...it is not one of yours that you lost mcfish).

you(the guy from California) each year pulling in those bass in front of them....ha ha. :)

I am falling fast as I have caught only 3 bass over 5lbs and a 4 1/2lb'er in my last 3 trips.....where have all the good times gone? Just kidding...I am stoked! Heck, years ago if I caught a 4lb'er that was the biggest bass in 6-10 months...ha ha
I think fisheromen hexed me after I caught a couple over 6lbs earlier this year. I have not one since he kidded me about 6 lb'ers....ha ha. I just have been lucky as heck lately.....and by the way mcfish, I am going to test the bone topwater lure at Murray. If it does not work, I will give it back to you. :)

Well played V. And the free fishing kind of paid for the BLT.

...... not to the bass. :)
Sorry Slater....I think they must also look dumb to mcfish too, but he knows they work.....and the bass I catch on them is the proof.

Fairly sure the bass are about as dumb as anything... Getting the bait in front of them seems to be the name of the game, and the Tokyo rig seems to do so for you

A few times mcfish told me I could borrow his extra float tube to use at the river....but I now see what the extra float tube really looks like and what it really is used for......so I doubt he will be letting me borrow it.....ha ha Screen Shot 2021-08-22 at 8.39.19 PM.png

I agree with you Werfless ..."Getting the bait in front of them seems to be the name of the game"
Actually I honestly laughed when I first saw a Tokyo rig. What bass is stupid enough to bite that bait with the long wire hanging off it and weight right in front of its eyes too? After I caught my first bass, I still thought it was a fluke(not the bait mcfish) and then after a few more I started feeling a little more confident using it and after many many more starting in the middle of last year, I believe in it and use it often. Not to say that a pegged weight with a bait would not do the same thing working it in cover...but I just like using the Tokyo rig.

    Oh, so it was a fluke..but it wasn't a fluke..not a fluke that I find that confusing!!

You guys fish in a fantasy world compared to my challenging bass fishing.........
    far from dumb,
"tossing a bait in front of the monsters" does nothing....
    yes, some are dumb.....
