This morning was my first time back to Lake Miramar since June 13. The water was low back then, and more at a normal level now and maybe up a little. I was lazy and brought my electric motor in my kayak and cruised down the far end of the lake. Nothing more fun than to start off by losing a fish down in the grass and then lose 2 more straight next to the tulles. Finally landed one on a senko down in the grass. I had a crank bait on one of my rods and tossed that out for a while, pulling in grass on 75% of my casts.. Just before cutting it off, I got lucky and landed a small bass. I brought light tackle with me as my last visit I caught lots of clones. I probably should have brought at least one flippin' stick to work the tulles as there were probably lots of bass hiding in them. Anyway...I just struck with senkos, crawbaits and drop shots and fished the weeds and deeper outer weed lines. Besides having some come unbuttoned down deep in the grass, I was able to land 11 bass this morning. Most of the bass were small, but a couple were a tiny bit healthier when compared to the average clone...ha ha. It then started to get hot and time and decided to head home.
Overall, I had fun morning...especially finally using the electric motor to get me around the lake (owned for 3 years and have used it less than 10 times). :)

    A few pics....

OK Upper body ...but then skinny

Average clone...if you use only drop shots...there are plenty of these around..

Had to post this pic or Mcfish would not believe me...

Just like the lottery...if you don't play, you can't win and if you are at work,...unfortunately you can't fish.
Anyway..Best wishes and tight lines to you the next time you are out fishing. :)

    TY VB!!
At least I DO fish more than I play the lotto!!
Of course the day is coming that I'm watching the news and the lottery ball machine throws out the numbers I do normally play.
If that happens, I'm going fishing and not coming back!

Yes Vito1023 ...it is a VMC Ike Approved Weedless Neko Hook(Tackle Warehouse of course)
    rs.php.jpeg
I like using them but they still come in with grass on them when working a senko in grass...
but if a bass is attached...it's fine. :)

As you know, I've never been to Miramar. Afraid to drive all the way down there and the ramp might or might not be open. Good day for you. Thanks for the report and pics Vinny!

    Thanks Brett
Yes....you never know about the water levels there....but there was plenty of water on Monday to launch. It would be a bummer to drive there and the water was too low to launch.
Pretty hot up near your lake.....too hot for me to fish it...ha ha
If you do this weekend...tight lines. :)

Thanks that what I thought but couldn’t see in the picture.
Without weight any reason you wouldn’t set it up like a Texas rig?

Normally I rig a senko Texas style like most people. Because I was fishing in deep water(and don't have the patience)...I add a small split shot up the line most of the time. I think I had that Senko rigged Neko style (the the last pic)but the worm came off. I put a nail weight in the worm. I tend to use a little bigger hook than most guys and you would laugh if you saw the way I rig a drop shot with wide gap hook rigged Texas style. It works for me...but not for the weak at heart..ha ha
    Tight lines
