Was able to take today off and found out Jennings was open today... Its open all week for spring break. By the way.... They stocked 1,500 pounds of trout this morning! And some huge ones too... het out there as they are everywhere! Bass swimming allover with trout sticking out of their mouths.... crazy to see that... saw 4 fish like that.

Back to my day... my goal was to search and make something happen. Find that pig in the Springtime... after fishing for 10 hours and only landing or finding 2 pound fish I was rewarded with a true Jennings Pig!!

Flipped in and she went right at it and smacked it... Set the hook and she felt so heavy... then she came unbuttoned!! No!!!!! I set back up and she moved back in however male grabbed it and snagged me up!!!! Holy Crap!! I’m gonna miss this chance... snap my braid and
retied my line with hope she is still there... could not see her she was in a bush... tossed on and my line took off right away... I set the hook like a mad man.... 15 seconds later she was in the net! Bam!!!!! Just over 12 pounds.

Your talents with a fishing pole are seriously impressive. I think if I ever boat a fish like that I might have it mounted and then retire!! Lol NOT!!

Thanks man... The key to those fish is not to panic. Once I found her I slowly moved away and got everything right with the bait, rod and reel. Then I posted up and hoped she would eat.... got lucky!

Persistence/patience pays off Rob! Congrats on the beastie. I've yet to get a DD bass ever, so it's got my heart pumping after your report. What did she hit? Worm? Jig? Something new? Thanks for sharing and hope to see you out there soon.

I would think you would post an exact weight if you put her on a scale

You put a fish on a scale and it bounces around a bit. "Just over 12" likely means it bounced all the way to 12.3 and back to just 12.12. Doesn't sound like an estimate, to me.

Ya know tsugg, there are some of us who fish our entire life and of course improve over the years. But every now and then you meet someone who just excels at their sport, no matter what that sport might be. Of course although most of it is from working their butts off, they seem to also have that natural ability which the rest of us can only wish we had.
Although there a quite a few people on here that fit that category, there is one who always comes to my mind (Linebig). Even though Rob was probably in diapers when I started fishing Im very impressed and pay attention to the information he is always willing to share with us.

Thanks for the kind words. That was very nice of you. For many of us fishing is something we cant even describe. Its all we think about, its all we do. It's our DNA. For me... even when I get home after a day on the water I am trying to figure out why I could not land the fish I saw or why I missed the fish I saw. I land my fair share... I dont get them all... trust me on that. So I sit back and wonder..What do I need to do better next time... was it boat position, was it bait choice, was it the time of day I showed up to that spot, what was it? I'll go over that in my mind until I hit the water next time.

Here is a fun side note about fishing... On one of my work trips my boss said it best... A client asked me after being at work for Taylor Guitars for 28 years do you still have the passion as you did within the first 5 years. My answer was yes, I come in smiling everyday. That's when my boss chimed in and said... Lets be real here... You work here so you can pay for fishing... You come in smiling from just going fishing... hahaha... And well... hahaha.. There is some truth to that! :) There is some real truth to that....
