Got to the lake at sunrise, in search of the rumored topwater I was told would be happening...according to certain intel I received (Fisheromen)! Checked out the whole lake..nothing! So I went up the north arm to do a little worming, and there they were..boils just outside the trees! Intel correct! I ended up getting 6 on top, also breaking off 2, and losing 1 at the boat. Fun, fun, fun...and then the sun came up above the mountain, party over! Who invented that big yellow ball? Switched over to t-rig and d/s and worked my way along the west shore of the north arm and added another 6 chubby clones! By noon I'd had enough of the 94 degree temp and called it a day! Fun day all around, normal light monday crowd, water 69-72, offshore breeze in the morning..onshore wind by 11:00. Nothing very big..unless I count the 2 I snapped on topwater! Threw baby sluggos for the topwater fish, oxblood and MM robos for the rest. 20191007_105718.jpg 20191007_081325.jpg 20191007_090508.jpg oh, and one Vinnybass charm bracelet mini-bass.. 20191007_110656.jpg

Looks like a fun time over at the Cap! Wise move to not pass that exit for El Cap and head to Murray...ha ha
Thanks for the report....no doubt El Cap will be full of fishermen this weekend! :)
I better post all of the packs of baby Sluggos I have in the "for sale" area and make some
    quick cash for more spoons!
Here is just a sneak peak of a few packs.........

Same action when that big ball drops behind the mountains. Bit of a wait, though! I bought a bag of those little Sluggos on your recommendation... now if I could just find them!

Now you just need an 8' rod with a whippy tip and fly line those suckers 3' past the boils, then reel and twitch non-stop! Keep the slug on the surface for maximum effect! Over half the fish I get on the surface are from just blind casting in shad infested areas! After a day of flylining baby sluggos, you'll probably want to call your orthopedic surgeon and have your elbow reattached! I wear a tennis elbow strap just for throwing the little buggers! I started using a little heavier hook just to get a little more distance on the cast!

So you don't just stand on the front of your boat waiting for boils? I see lots of guys doing just that.

I'm constantly casting while waiting for the boils...that way I ensure that my arm falls off! I double my shot at topwater fish that way!

After a long night of playing guitar with some buddies(& several shots of tequila), I came home to investigate something that I noticed earlier. I looked at the bass you caught at El Cap and compared it with the bass you caught at Murray when I was out there that day with you. So both bass(look at pics below) look like they have a unique scar on them. I am not sure but it makes me wonder if you shot each fish that was chasing shad and when they surfaced, you lifted them into the boat for a pic. Something fishy is going on? You fingernails don't look that sharp.... Maybe you tag them with an ice pick to see if you could catch them again on another day? :)

Same fish, no doubt! Must have gone from Murray, in his Live well, to El Cap! Shameful!

    In a boat........oh I got it...you never use it....ha ha
The only time I use mine is if I have a nice bass and want to give it a boost of oxygen in the very hot months(very warm water), quickly take some pics and release it.
