Thanks for the reinforcement. I'm also looking forward to when the weather warms up and the days get a little longer to increase my flexibility.

Thanks for the help. I've never fished with a texas rig. I grew up fishing 30 years ago in upstate New York with jigs, spoons, rapalas and plain old worm and bobber, mostly for pike, walleye, and panfish. I've lived in San Diego for 25 years and always thought you needed to be a mile off the coast in a big boat to catch fish. Then this past year I discovered fishing again and am kicking myself in the pants for not having looked into bay and surf fishing before. I remember being taught how to fish and bringing my kids along is mostly joy because I love it when they catch fish. But you really do need that time to yourself to explore all of the different options. Good luck to you and your daughter out there!

When in doubt small pieces of shrimp (just enough to cover the hook) will do wonders. Ask Werfless

Is this the store bought shrimp from the asian market or do you get it frozen from a bait shop?

I just tell the dude at Vons to grab me a handful when I’m over there buying steaks or whatever. Cut them up and ziplock them. Use or freeze. One shrimp should give you like 3 hook sized chunks. Drop shot. C rig. Just get it in the water snd have fun. I haven’t tried chumming yet but AzImport gave me some solid suggestions. I got some “supplies” from the pet store that should get the bite going strong. Haha

Agreed. If I remember correctly, I think you said no bigger than two peas or something along those lines. I think you and I also chatted on another thread about the endless types of chum. Stale bread. Leftover cheeseburgers your kid didn’t finish lol. Rice. Etc. AzImport mentioned a few of his own favorites. I think he mentioned cat food. I saw some in clearance so I grabbed them. Haven’t tried it yet. But I hear it creates a nice environment for guys like us. Haha

I know I’m quoting you a lot but it’s for good reason. You’re the Coach!! And your logic is sound man. I only know because I use it. Watched your YouTube vids too.

Meanwhile you’re reaching down plucking a mussel off the dock piling. “Uh huh... tell me about it...”
