Just a few short months ago, Nike felt it in their best interest to thrust their political prowess upon us in support of their Loser Du Jour Colin Kaepernick and his call to eliminate Nike's Betsy Ross flag version entry (the original) of their sport shoes. Okay. I'm sure a lot of us were basically surprised over that. Ya, let's not be patriotic (because that's all it was) and stand with Nike and their disdain for America and Trump. Smart thinking.

Now, they've come up with the "Jesus Shoe." Although not really practicing anymore, I'm full-on Catholic.. I don't know if I should be embarrassed or offended. Holy water can be seen floating in the soles of their Nike sport shoes, and a gold cross hanging off the laces. And they were going for $2000 per pair, and are now sold out, naturally. So, displaying our national colors of red, white and blue is bad, but wearing "Jesus shoes with holy water and a cross with an image of Jesus nailed to it isnt? I'm not bashing religion, but I'm totally bashing Nike, obviously. Holy water? I remember entering my church as a kid and thinking how awesome it was that holy water was so protected and respected. Should people in general be offended by these shoes, because clearly they weren't? The media loves them.. but the media hates anything red, white and blue. Why is that? Is that a bible citation I see printed on the shoe? So glad I ditched Nike years ago and went with Skechers.

Wow. I am almost at a loss. Almost. Also not at all shocked. Devout Catholic myself. I also don't wear any crosses of any kind. Not about to be wearing one on a $2k shoe for sure. And while I regularly go for crossing myself with holy water, not about to go walking on it in such a manner either...

Won't be buying them unless the Pope says all Catholics must purchase these shoes...ha ha
I would have to sell some of my guitars, fishing rods and some reels in order to be able to cover the
cost of one pair. Nothing surprises me in this day and age. :)

I will buy nothing from Nike nor do I have anything of theirs sense they were found producing products in factories relying primarily on child and servitude labor. Complete hypocrites. They only changed policy because they got caught, not because they have any form or morals..

If "colon" Kaepernick was an atheist and complained to Nike about the shoe they would pull it in a heart beat.

Guys, Nike didn't do it. Some NY turdblossom customized some Nikes in order to create controversy and build his brand. Just like Colin K.....

Totally. I've never seen such pussification before. Would love to be a fly on the wall for any Nike board meeting.

Gotcha .. so were talking about exact wording. Alright. So the CONCEPT of the shoes was created by some slave NY company dubbed MSCHF (Multiple Sclerosis Congestive Heart Failure?):emoji_joy:, and then manufactured by another slave company that is slave to whoever builds these things for Nike, and finally marketed by Nike under their logo. So everyone got seriously paid.. except the slaves that slaved away over the sewing machines.

As much as I hate NY Post and NY anything, here's the story I found.. good to know.

If you bought a float tube and customized it in a way that offended me....does it make sense for me to post about what a lousy company Fishcat is? Dude, google Jesus shoe and read an article. The stuff you're posting did not occur. Nike had nothing to do with it, they have no control over what you do with their shoes once you buy 'em. And yeah, Nike is a d-bag company. Lots of reasons to dislike 'em....but this ain't one of those reasons.

At my age and life's experiences I am no longer offended by anything nowdays. However keep in mind today if someone could gold plate a sack of dog poop, give it a catchy name and charge an outrageous price for it he could probably sell it and make alot of money. :emoji_money_mouth:

Dude, I'm at work. I gotta work a little. I found an article and posted it. Who's offended? I'm not really.. I could give two shyts about the article. So Multiple Sclerosis Congestive Heart Failure bought rack shoes and injected river water in them. Okay. Nike made a few bucks on a few pair of shoes. I assume the coverage they got with their name and logo was good because I haven't heard of anyone launching some holy heII religious lawsuit yet.

I DO however care that losers like Kaepernick have such political control over the largest shoe company in the world - as I was saying before. Cant have the original US flag on a shoe, per Kaepernick and Nike. But someone dreaming up that injecting blessed river water in the soles of athletic shoes is acceptable? Should the religious be offended? Okay. Nike participated.. and they're getting excellent press over it - and who knows what else. Religion/politics... religion/politics. Cant we have both? Cant they BE both? They are.

"The shoes were in no part affiliated with Nike." From the article Creek linked but apparently didn't read.
Look, the last two presidents and a fire team of congressional reps were elected simply because they got the most clicks. Couple of random jokers got some food coloring and tapwater, two dozen pairs of Nike Air ******bags, shoplifted some religious trinkets from the 99 cent store. They made up a story about holy water, grabbed a rusty syringe from their mom's works and shot the water into the soles of the shoes. Their business is creating buzz, the more their scheme is mentioned online, the more they can demonstrate to potential clients how they can create buzz.
By posting, you put money in their pockets.
The terrorists want an uninformed electorate, people getting all wound up about stuff that doen't matter or didn't even happen. They thrive on our nation being divided over stupid ****. Nike selling Jesus Shoes is fake news. This round, the terrorists won. By posting nonsense, you helped them. And if I hit "Post Reply," so am I....

Nike may not be responsible for the shoes but they are reaping the benefits of all of this free publicly. I haven't seen anything from Nike with a rebuttal about this, could be wrong. I believe that they are just riding the hype wave for now.
The shoes are being sold on a "resale website." From what I have read these people have done similar things with other products.
Nike may not be business partners with these people but indirectly they are with the free publicly.
If people want to make a buck by reselling these doctored shoes I don't have a problem with that. But if you believe that Nike isn't benefiting from all of this, then oh well.

Of course Nike's benefitting from free publicity. But they didn't "participate," as some people keep insisting. That's my point. And the terrorists win again.

I don’t get the terrorists theory.
Kinda like when plako said that everything is socialism.
So if people disagree with something then the terrorists win?

A poisonously divided electorate and elected officials more interested in partisan sniping than in governing prevents actual governance from taking place. Like when Sacramento declared war on Washington, more or less.

I agree with young Mr. Creek's comments about religion and politics...I simply disagree with his continued assertion that "Nike participated."

    Tight lines!
