Went again on Thursday, 7 am till 2. Not wide open topwater, but did ok. Ended with almost three limits. Lost an absolute monster that would probably go DD. The explosions, before hookup, which was on the third one, looked like dynamite gong off, exciting stuff. She probably fouled the lure with the line, so the fight pulled it off. Oh well, I know where she lives! ;/)

Air 90, water 80. Not that many folks out, even with the pleasure boats, on a Thurs.
Here's a couple of the nicer ones, all on top but two, and those on Senkos in a spot the looked like it'd work well, and it did.

the popper has been my go to bait last two times out. Luckily, the little one that zigged when it should have tagged
as I was unhooking it did not stick the hooks into two of my fingers too badly. The hassle it trying to grab the
fish with the only hand that that is not hooked and taking the fish off the other hook! ;/0. Luckily only one was deep, past that barb, and being small diameter wire came out fairly easily. I never have time to mess with them when it
happens, too busy trying to catch fish and don't want to be slowed down!

Went here today and got skunked.. Not surprising because I can’t seem to catch anything in freshwater. I tried weightless Senko/tricks, cranks, jerks, flukes, spinners, underspins, poppin frogs.. What am I doing wrong? Everything was on 8-15# fluoro and plastics were Texas rig or dropshot with natural and dark colors. My buddy used live worms and chicken liver for bluegill and cats and did not get any bites either.

Workers told us to hit around island, kimball, and barona arms. No luck. Please help lol

Time of day matters. Not everyone can catch Bass under the bright mid-day sun. With me it is early or late.

Yeah I’ve read early or late is when they’re more active. There wasn’t much shade in the spots we went to as well, if there was then I threw in that direction. Unfortunately we had plans in the afternoon but went from open to about 10. I would’ve been happy with at least a couple nibbles, ha!

San V can be feast or fanine.
If there is a good topwater bite then it's on!
    But...
It's difficult to fish due to all the submerged cover, water clarity, water contact activity...
Even when you hook up, the fish can quickly have you wrapped up in the cover.
Kinda not fun when it happens more than once in a day.

Agreed. Did not lose any that day, that I remember, not like today at Cap. Man that hurts, and more than once too- dang. Poppers have two sets of trebs, that's some of the problem, they leave you on the bush/trees, wiggling off in lightning speed most of the time. But the frog, not so much, but today even that got stuck down from a run- twice. Was blessed I remembered to switch the buzzbait to 65# braid from 15# flouro, or I'd of lost two fish to laydowns, one a Lunker, minutes later! Would not of horsed them in over the junk I did. Was a miracle really ;/0

Thank God I realized that I needed to switch to a rod with braid, as I had to manhandle this beast over two trees, it got stuck on both momentarily.
