I haven’t fished for either of these during the winter months before. Do the same spots in mission bay or any lagoon or surf work with sandy bottom; night time/ fresh Mack or something stinky still apply?

Fresh fresh bait and I repeat fresh fresh bait. The bays, lagoons, surf all hold 365. Just about how much time you put in and chime to a spot. Patience, fresh bait, chum will get you bit.

Did Mr V recommend fresh bait? Did I hear FRESH? Because fresh might be the way to go, as fresher is better than fresh. As fresh could be important to fresh... Did I mention fresh? If I didn't, then fresh...
Just saying.. go get em, it should be time...

Needlefish are probably the best second choice in my opinion when you can find them. Smelt, lizardfish, salema, surfperch, croakers and even opaleye have worked well for me in the past...

The last time I caught a shark I was using bait that had been sitting in a freezer for more than a year. Sure fresh bait would be the preferred choice, but you can't catch anything if you don't put a line in the water. Use what you got.

Ditching the twin 55,s and going single 70.
It saves a hundred pounds and should give me more fuel efficiency

Gonna hit you up when the boats fixed and we don't both have to swim back. Then we can fish whatever side we want LOL

Anchor up the boat at dusk, 14ft. To 20 ft. Deep Soft bottom, mud or sand. I have my favorite spots. Have a fairly nice moving tide, bust out the cans of 9 lives ocean feast cat food. . Any cat food works . Get that chum line started. Just fly line frozen squid or chunks of macks.
At times with the right conditions it can be wide open craziness! 705796_0ae906769dd2272aaad30f1e6ffc225e.jpg mudmarlin 002.jpg

Incoming tide after sunset.. not hard to understand. Chunk baits, cannonball rig or breakaway with steel.. not so hard
