Going to fish the grunion run again tonight, got spooled last night in mb and was hooking up every cast. Probably going to try the strand but may go back to mb tonight.

There was a lot of grunion, just not were there were people in the waves shining flashlights. I like to not mess with the first couple fish i see, then the second or third following waves the main school will come up. They started coming in around 10:30 and kept coming until about 12. The fishing died off pretty quickly after that.

They're all over, just got to walk up and down the beach to find them, i would stay away from the people with flashlights. They seemed to be a lot more schools north of belmont rollercoaster, less weeds too.

you fishing artificials? If so what color/pattern was effective. If I get Live bait I'll be soaking one on a Pulley rig and a 15lb. 12ft surfrod and fly lining another on a second setup. I just can't decide whether to bring my 8lb light line setup or my 15lb setup I use for swimbaits.

i got spooled on 12# so im sticking to my big gear tonight, live bait is always best, if your throwing artificials i would stick with the hard baits, krocodiles, surf pointers, sp minnows, anything grunion shaped i guess... This is my second time surf fishing so take it with a grain of salt, or two lol

I might fish the grunion run tonight too, would you recommend sticking to bait or using artificials? Also, is there anything else I would need to bring besides a bucket and my fishing tackle? I've never surf fished before, so sorry for all the questions.
